Participants will learn the basics of cage aquaculture and construct a fish cage. Raising fish in cages can utilize a water resource that is not suitable for other aquaculture production techniques. Farm ponds are a good example where cage aquaculture is quite suited as a production means.

Presented by David Crosby, Brian Nerrie, Louis Landesman

Cage-building materials will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring leather gloves, tin snips, a tape measure, cutting pliers and protective goggles.

If you have any questions, please contact David Crosby at dcrosby@vsu.edu or
(804) 712-3771.

If you are a person with a disability and desire any assistive devices, services or other accommodations to participate in this activity, please contact the Aquaculture Program office at (804) 524-5496 / TDD (800) 828-1120 during business hours of 8 am. and 5 p.m. to discuss accommodations five days prior to the event.
