A Career in Agriculture - No Longer Just About Farming

Career.  For a lot of young FFA members, as well as other youth involved in agriculture, this may not be a word that has been considered much.  Even as students begin to contemplate which college they want to attend and what their major will be, a career may not be the driving consideration, even though it will eventually be the end goal.  When I started considering colleges and majors I knew I wanted to attend Virginia Tech and major in Animal and Poultry Sciences because that is what I had an interest in, and I wanted to have a career in agriculture, but that was as far as I had gotten in planning.

Your Agriculture Story

One of the main goals for the Farm Credit Knowledge Center team is to share information about agriculture with all those who are interested.  We spend our days trying to do this in a variety of ways, from this blog, to the information on this website, hosting or helping with workshops and participating in broad array of different activities.  It allows us to meet many different people from different walks of life, which is one of the great things about being a part of this team.  Much of our time since starting the Knowledge Center has been dedicated to helping those directly involved in agriculture or interested in getting involved in agriculture by providing information to help them start or improve their production, management, finances or some combination of these.
