National Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month!

June bring the official beginning of summer, and its also National Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month...perfect timing!  We are fortunate to have access to so many fresh fruits and vegetables in our grocery stores year round, but for me, nothing beats being able to grow your own (in a garden if you have the space, or even in some pots on  an apartment patio!), or buying from a local farmers market.

Fruits and vegetables are (suprisingly) pretty popular in our house; if we don't have fruit with lunch or dinner one of our boys will usually ask for it.  I try to always keep plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in stock (especially those on our "favorites list - grapes, apples, strawberries, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots and green peppers), but that means fairly frequent trips to the grocery store.  Storing fresh fruits and vegetables can be tricky, but www.fruitsandveggiesmorematters.org/, shares some great tips for storage as well as some great recipes to try!  You can check it out by visiting www.fruitsandveggiesmorematters.org/fresh-fruit-veggie-month!

If you're looking for more recipes, or even some fun activities to do with kids to help encourage them to eat those fruits and vegetables, USDA has a list of resources available...you can check it out here

So what are your favorite fruits and vegetables?  Do you have a go to recipe (or two) that's popular at your house?  We'd love for you to share!
