National Corn on the Cob Day

It’s National Corn on the Cob Day!  Admittedly, with the weather that we have been having lately in quite a large section of Virginia and West Virginia hasn’t been extremely conducive to cooks outs...but corn on the cob is still a staple and symbol of summer for many people.
The corn on the cob that we all love and enjoy is sweet corn – which is one of 4 main types of corn grown around the world.  The other three are field corn, which is used for animal feed and to make masa, popcorn, and maize, which is largely used for decorative purposes.  Corn is an extremely versatile crop, and can be found in many different products!  If you would like to learn more about some of the byproducts of corn, be sure to check out our I’m All Ears graphic!
In honor of Corn on the Cob Day, check out some of these fun corn facts.  What is your favorite way to to enjoy corn on the cob?  Do you grill it?  Boil it with milk?  Enjoy it as street corn with cheese and spices?  We’d love to hear!
