Katie Frazier PhotoKatie Frazier

Director of External Affairs

Katie Frazier is the Director of External Affairs for Farm Credit of the Virginias. In this role, Frazier is tasked with interacting with industry participants, legislators and policy makers at the state and federal level, to develop programs to support farmers, advocate for agriculture, and educate policymakers and consumers about agriculture. Frazier previously served as President of the Virginia Agribusiness Council from 2012-2018, and began her career with the Council in 2004. She also managed the Virginia Grain Producers Association and the Virginia Wine Council through her work for the Alliance Group in Richmond. She has spent her career successfully representing the agribusiness industry on state and federal legislative and regulatory issues, including water quality and the Chesapeake Bay.  The Bridgewater, VA native is a 2004 graduate of Virginia Tech, where she double majored in Agricultural and Applied Economics and Political Science.  She currently resides in Midlothian, Virginia with her husband, Eric and son Palmer.

Knowledge Center Director

Kyley Clevenger joined Farm Credit of the Virginias in May of 2013 to serve as the Knowledge Center Coordinator and recently took over the Director position in May of 2017. She grew up on her family farm in Stephenson, VA showing livestock on the local, state and national level and participated on multiple livestock judging teams. Kyley graduated from Virginia Tech in 2009 with a B.S. degree in Agricultural and Applied Economics. Currently, she is actively involved in various agricultural organizations across the state such as the Ag Advisory Council, a local County Fair Board, VA State Fair – Sale of Champions Committee Member, VA Angus Women Auxiliary Member and Officer and VA Beginning Farmer and Rancher Coalition Advisory Board member. Outside of her time with Farm Credit and her involvement in local and state organizations, she is very much involved in the beef industry and continues to raise cattle.

She is blessed to be a part of this exciting endeavor with the Knowledge Center and is looking forward to working with the agricultural community.

Knowledge Center Program Specialist

Sarah Scyphers joined the Knowledge Center team in October of 2018 as the Program Specialist responsible for our Ag Biz Planner, Ag Biz Basics and FarmLaunch Programs.  Sarah grew up on her family farm in Floyd, Virginia where she learned to care for livestock, showed lambs, and was involved in her county 4-H program.  Sarah graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. Degree in Animal and Poultry Science in 2005 and a M.S. Degree in Career and Technical Education in 2006 and spent 12+ years in the Agriculture classroom before joining the Knowledge Center.  Currently, Sarah is active in her church and serves her community and Agriculture by serving on her local fair board, serving on the Agriculture Advisory Council for her county Board of Supervisors and serving on a local Promise Walk for Preeclampsia planning committee to name a few.  She, her husband Aaron and their three children also operate their family farm, Springlake Livestock, where they raise cattle and sheep and enjoy showing livestock.

Knowledge Center Program Specialist

Marie Rothwell joined Farm Credit of the Virginia in December of 2018 as the Program Specialist responsible for program development and curriculum.  Marie obtained her Master’s of Agricultural and Life Sciences degree from Virginia Tech in 2015 and her B.S. in Family and Consumer Resources from the University of Arizona in 1996.  She has spent the majority of her working career developing and running programs that serve youth and families and most recently served as a 4-H Extension Agent.  Outside of her time with Farm Credit, Marie continues to volunteer with 4-H in her community.  She is excited to join the Knowledge Center Team and to assist in the development of programs to support the agricultural community.
